Matukituki Valley

I felt so lucky to spend a day in this magnificent valley about 40 km west of Wanaka on the edge of Mt Aspiring national park. This Peak is Mt Avalanche. The snow field is a permanent glacier and it is common to see and hear ice and snow falling into the cirque (hanging valley) below, hence the name.
